Caring for the sick is a ministry that Christ exemplified and calls us to perform. Jesus said caring for one of these is as though caring for Him personally (Matthew 25:35-40).
Church history tells us that Christianity grew and thrived during difficult times of persecution and plagues. Studies have shown that even basic health care such as adequate water, food, and warmth can result in a much higher percentage rate of survival from a disease. During the 1918 Influenza, it was determined that many died simply because there was no one to look after the sick and provide them these basic essential needs.
With the re-emergence of the HPAI-H5N1 threatening to become a lethal pandemic, this ministry uses the examples of Florence Nightingale who took 38 women with her to the Crimean War; Dr. Margaret Patterson who trained over a thousand volunteers to care for the sick during the 1918 Influenza; and Mother Teresa who started the global community of Missionaries of Charity as templates. This ministry endeavors to train and equip volunteers, called "Ministers of Grace", who are willing to care for their neighbors, bringing the gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ, into the crisis event.
This section provides guidelines for setting up a ministry and the training of volunteers called "Ministers of Grace." It includes suggestions and instructions, as well as a sample weekend classroom schedule for training. This is to ensure the full equipping of those who wish to visit and care for the sick and minister to the hurting in a time of crisis.

Complete instruction to become a Minister of Grace will require several hours of classroom time. The classes will be presented by qualified instructors and will run on a strict schedule for efficiency. Please see a sample schedule below for a weekend.
